Welcome!
My name is Thom Gandet, and I'm an astronomer and composer living in the Sonora Desert of Southern Arizona. You can browse a catalogue of my music, and also listen to and
download selected examples of it. I founded The Allan Pettersson Society in 1999, and
you can read about it here. You can also follow the construction of the Lizard Hollow Observatory and read about
the research I'll be doing with its telescope.

of 10. I compose primarily with melody and motive with strongly directed harmonies, and I frequently
use contrapuntal and process techniques.
I've written music for piano, instrumental chamber ensembles, and vocal soloists and ensembles. |

all. |

goals of encouraging the performance and study of Pettersson's music in the
US. The International Allan Pettersson Society was founded by Markus
Brylka, a German composer and musicologist. In 2002, my interest in astronomy exceeded my
interest in musical activities (except for composing), and the Allan Pettersson Society faded to pianissimo... |
